Together with the project partners and a broad collaboration network, the project develops a Human-centric AI Actions Model which enables organisations to move towards large-scale use of AI through concrete experiments taking business, while taking into account business needs, regulations, as well as employee wellbeing.
Why do we need human-centric AI actions?
Generative AI has already significantly impacted Finnish working life. According to a 2024 study by ETLA Economic Research, nearly half of Finns have personal experience with generative AI, but only about 20% use it at work. 38% of SMEs have used AI at least occasionally and 36% anticipate increased use. According to the digitalisation survey of municipalities, 57% of municipalities make use of artificial intelligence. Only less than 7% of associations have a plan for the implementation of artificial intelligence.
This shows that AI utilisation in Finnish workplaces is still in its early stages. The project aims to help organizations:
- keep pace with rapidly evolving AI technologies,
- identify and adopt new AI tools to support work,
- develop operations and work practices in an AI-driven world.
Surveys show that organizations face similar obstacles in the use of AI: lack of expertise, ethical concerns, data protection, lack of information, and privacy risks. The project addresses these challenges by supporting organisations in the responsible and effective AI implementation.
How do we work?
At the heart of the project is systematic, human-centric technologies and the tools that support it. During the project we develop a Human-Centric AI Actions Model that supports the responsible and effective implementation of generative AI in organisations. The model combines:
- User-centered methods for clear and practical progress
- Aspects of well-being at work and occupational safety and health, such as managing psychosocial workload
- Smart division of labor between humans and machines, which supports productive work
- Engagement and collaboration at all levels of the organization involving management, supervisors and staff
The project will proceed in three phases:
- Pilot phase (09/2025–08/2026)
Experimenting and developing the operating model and tools in the pilot organisation - Expansion phase (09/2026–08/2027)
Expansion of the model to second-stage organisations - Dissemination phase (09/2027–08/2028)
Implementation of the model and tools continues in the third phase
The project is nationwide with key target group of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises and organisations.
