At the basic level there are two Open Badges and their descriptions are below. The milestone badge (Basic skills of the circular economy) is issued when both badges have been successfully completed.
The recipient of the Basics of circular economy badge knows the basic concepts of the circular economy, understands the connection between sustainability and circular economy, and the basic principle of circular economy business models. They know the policy instruments of circular economy and recognize the connection between the circular economy and their own industry. They recognize the need for change from linear economy to circular economy.
The recipient of the Principles and common approach to circular economy badge understands the business models of the circular economy and the key concepts related to them. They recognize business opportunities of circular economy and the role of digitalisation as part of circular economy solutions. They also understand the importance of multidisciplinary cooperation. They know how to articulate change and communicate about it.
The recipient of Basic skill of the circular economy understands the connection between sustainability and circular economy, recognizes the need for change from linear economy to circular economy, and knows the basic concepts of the circular economy. They recognize circular economy business opportunities and new business models and understand the role of digitalisation as part of circular economy solutions. They know the policy instruments of circular economy and the requirements they bring. They recognize the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration, and they can articulate the change as well as communicate about it.

At the solution finder level there are two Open Badges and their descriptions are below. The milestone badge (Solution provider for circular economy) is issued when all four badges for circular economy have been successfully completed.
The recipient of the Digitalisation, data and AI in the circular economy badge recognizes the role of digital tools in the development of circular economy solutions and business and knows how to utilize them. They understand the importance of data availability and sharing and identify and utilize data to promote a circular economy.
The recipient of the Circular Economy Development and Application badge can design and implement circular economy–based operating models, solutions, and business practices. They understand how to align organizational activities with the circular economy requirements set by policy instruments. They can identify opportunities to scale solutions and recognize the organization’s role within global value networks. They are capable of addressing challenges related to change. They also understand the importance of communication in advancing the circular economy and can effectively convey the nature and significance of change, both within specific industries and through cross-sector collaboration.
Solution Provider for Circular Economy recognizes the role of digital tools in developing circular economy solutions and business, knows how to utilize them, and understands the importance of data and new technologies in promoting the circular economy. They develop and implement circular economy operating models, align organizational activities with circular economy requirements, and identify opportunities for scaling solutions. In addition, they can address challenges related to change, understand the importance of communication in advancing the circular economy, and know how to communicate about change and its significance within different collaboration networks.
