Enhancing Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in the workplace
MOOC introduces participants to the most relevant concepts of applying EDI in the workplace, focusing on practical DEI/EDI skills, application and case studies, and digital skills from DEI/EDI theme perspectives.
Target group for the MOOC is managers, SME owners, start uppers and undergraduate HE students eager to have a better approach toward Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
MOOC consist of 20 modules divided into six module groups (sections). Each section contains an introductory webinar, three or four modules and independent work using the modular MOOC materials. Below you find each section, schedule and the modules under them. Each module contains a learning description and learning objectives.

14.-18.10.2024: Fostering Inclusive and Emotionally Intelligent Workplaces
Unconscious Bias Awareness
Unconscious bias is a natural phenomenon that affects everyone, whether we are aware of it or not. This course is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of unconscious bias and its impact on personal and professional interactions. It examines the origins of bias, its impact on decision-making, and actionable steps for mitigating unconscious biases in various settings and fostering inclusivity. This course offers participants practical strategies to recognize and address their own biases and herewith mitigate the influence of unconscious bias in different situations.
Learning objectives
- Recognize at least 4 main types of unconscious biases (e.g.: implicit bias, affinity bias, confirmation bias or stereotyping).
- Understand the impact of biases on decision-making.
- Apply practical strategies to mitigate unconscious bias.
- Promote inclusive language and communication.
- Develop action plans for fostering inclusivity in various settings.
Emotional Competence Basics
This module will help the learner to understand that to realize EDI in organizations often involves sensitive issues (e.g. incidents of discrimination or harassment; bias in hiring or promotion; pay) and emotional competence can support tackling these situations.
Emotional competence is considered an ability to perceive, understand, recognize and practice emotions in the workplace. It is a skill that can be learned and applied in the workplace.
The module familiarizes the learner with emotions in organizational contexts and helps them to reflect emotions related to EDI.

Introduction to EDI in Business Management
This module introduces the critical concept of Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) in business management. Participants will explore the fundamental principles and practices essential for fostering an inclusive organizational culture. The module underscores the business case for EDI, highlighting its influence on employee engagement, innovation, and overall organizational success. Learners will gain insights into creating workplaces that value diversity, embrace inclusivity, and promote equality to drive positive business outcomes.

21.-25.10.2024: Implementing Comprehensive Diversity and Inclusion Strategies in the Workplace
Managing Diversity and Inclusion in Human Resources (HR)
This module will help the learner to identify two HR processes that support diversity and inclusion in workplaces. The Human Resources (HR) processes encompass a wide range of activities related to managing an organization’s workforce. Recruitment and Career development are crucial HR processes for attracting, hiring and developing employees. They can enhance diversity and inclusion through seeking and recruiting candidates with different backgrounds, identifying and eliminating bias and creating open and equal opportunities for career growth.
Recruitment includes, e.g., creating job descriptions and job postings or, screening and interviewing candidates. Career development includes, e.g., mentorship and coaching; succession planning; career path visibility.
Learning objectives
- Improve the learner’s ability to identify two human resource processes that can enhance diversity and inclusion in workplaces.
- Increase the learners’ ability to recognize practices that support diversity and inclusion in HR processes.
Gender Equality and Inclusion Strategies
This module will give the learner an overall picture of gender equality and inclusion strategies, which set out a vision, policy objectives and actions to make concrete progress on gender equality and inclusion. This module introduces different aspects of gender equality and inclusion strategies and outlines the importance of those strategies. The module introduces the EU’s Gender Equality Strategy 2020-2025 and actions taken for gender equality in the EU.
In addition, the module familiarizes the learner with concrete actions to implement EDI strategies in workplaces. This module increases learner’s ability to understand how diversity and inclusivity are implemented in the workplace.

LGBTQ+ Inclusion and Supportive Policies
This module focuses on LGBTQ+ inclusion and supportive policies within the workplace. Learners will develop an understanding of the challenges faced by LGBTQ+ individuals, cultivating awareness of current policies and best practices that foster LGBTQ+ inclusivity in professional environments. Additionally, learners will gain insights into LGBTQ+ terms and concepts to promote inclusive communication within the workplace.

Disability Inclusion and Accessibility in Business
Through this module learners will get to know how disability inclusion and accessibility can be achieved, by highlighting current, practical examples of company best practice.

4.-8.11.2024: Promoting Digital Inclusion and Etiquette in the Workplace
Digital Equity and Digital Inclusion
The module will enable participants to initially conceptualize the notion of Digital Equity, emphasizing the importance of equal access, opportunities, and participation in the digital realm for all individuals and communities, regardless of socioeconomic background, geographic location, or demographic factors. Furthermore, emphasis will be put on digital inclusion that in a sense goes beyond mere access, aiming to empower individuals with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to effectively navigate and utilize digital tools and platforms. Finally, stress will be put on how the two components are essential for promoting social justice, economic advancement, and overall community well-being.

Netiquette
This module covers essential aspects of online communication, discussing behavioural guidelines and necessary expertise for using digital technologies and engaging within digital spaces (social media, online platforms, forums, email communication). The module will provide learners with a comprehensive understanding of netiquette and the cross-cultural communication skills needed to engage in online interactions in a respectful, responsible, and culturally sensitive manner.

Digital Inclusive Collaboration Tools and Platforms
Through this module learners will explore tools and platforms for digital inclusive collaboration, fostering an environment where diverse participants can collaborate effectively and equitably.

DigComp basics
This module introduces learners to the Basics of DigComp, the European Commission’s Digital Competences framework, equipping them with the foundational knowledge and competences needed to navigate the digital landscape confidently. Learners will explore the five competence DigComp areas Information and Data Literacy, Communication and Collaboration, Digital Content Creation, Safety, and Problem Solving through hands-on activities in order to develop practical skills essential for thriving in a digital society.

LifeComp basics
This module introduces LifeComp, the European framework for cultivating key competencies in personal, social, and learning-to-learn domains. Designed to adapt to our rapidly changing world, LifeComp emphasizes the development of skills essential for personal fulfilment, social inclusion, and continuous employability. Participants will explore the nine core competencies of LifeComp, organized into personal, social, and learning dimensions. The module aims to equip learners with the tools to self-regulate emotions, thoughts, and behaviours, and to thrive as responsible, reflective individuals in diverse social and professional environments, fostering lifelong learning and adaptability.

European legal framework on EDI in Employment
This module will help learners acquire knowledge of the European Legal Framework in relation to EDI in employment. This module is particularly focused on the awareness and understanding of key European Directives that guide EDI policies in the workplace.

Comparative national legal frameworks on EDI in Employment
The focus of this module is to compare national legal frameworks on EDI in employment. National legal frameworks on EDI vary across EU member states. This module will focus on 5 countries, namely: Ireland, Greece, Finland, Germany and Italy. All countries share a commitment to combating workplace discrimination.

Copyright legislation and licenses
This module examines copyright legislation and licenses, providing a thorough understanding of the legal framework surrounding intellectual property. The module aims to empower learners with the skills to navigate various licensing models and copyright complexities while simultaneously fostering a culture of diversity and inclusion in their respective spheres.

Ethical Aspects on EDI in Employment
Creating an articulate ethical climate i.e. a shared perception as to what constitutes right behaviour within an organization, relates to important aspects of corporate policies, practices and leadership. The course titled ”Ethical Aspects on EDI in Employment” is designed to explore the critical intersection of ethics, equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) within the realm of employment practices. Through it, students will have the opportunity to be acquainted with an in-depth exploration of the ethical implications of various employment practices, from recruitment and hiring processes to workplace policies and professional development opportunities.

This module will look at national employment law and national case law. It aims to provide learners with a fundamental understanding of employee rights and protections in the workplace. By focusing on these laws and practical cases, participants will gain knowledge to promote an EDI work environment.

Conflict Management
This module aims to equip learners with essential conflict resolution skills. Learners will explore conflict types, analyse the impact of unresolved conflicts on diversity and inclusion, and delve into collaborative problem-solving. Through hands-on activities and discussions, learners will practice communication techniques and develop strategies to foster an inclusive work culture. This module integrates real-world scenarios, encouraging critical thinking and reflection, preparing students for diverse workplace environments.
